FINISHES
Stain Finish – Standard stain finishes that I have available to me are available on my builds. They can be left in their natural state or for added protection, a satin clear coat can be applied.
Rubio Mono Coat Oil Finish – I also offer Rubio Mono Coat Oil finish as an option on my builds if you are looking for a natural wood finish or a dyed colour finish with a natural matte look.
KEDA Dye – I use KEDA Dyes to add colour on to natural wood finishes. This process is followed by either a satin clear to seal and protect the wood or Rubio Mono Coat Oil finish.
Nitrocellulose Paint & Clear Options – Now that I have an option in Canada to produce Nitrocellulose finishes through Oxford Supply Company, I am offering this as standard finish. Any of the colours offered on their website will be available for my builds.
Standard Gloss Automotive Paint – I work with a local automotive company that paints my guitars. Available in a wide range of colour options with a high gloss and very durable, long lasting finish. Selecting this finish option adds $150 to the build price and two weeks to the build time.
Automotive Gloss Clear – I work with a local automotive company that clears my natural wood finished guitars when a high gloss finish is desired. This high gloss automotive clear is a very durable, long lasting finish. Selecting this finish option adds $150 to the build price and two weeks to the build time.
Neck Finishing – I've been known to match the headstock of my necks to the body but most often I leave them in their natural maple finish. I typically will finish my necks with a satin clear but I also will leave them with just a natural oil finish.
WOOD
Guitar Body – I use most standard woods for my guitar bodies. Wood selection is based on availability to me and is typically my decision. Exotic woods can be used but again based on availability and they will add to the cost of the build based on the cost to me. Exotic woods will be quoted prior to securing the wood for the build and will only be purchased once the additional cost has been approved by the client.
I will only dye or stain exotic woods to enhance the natural wood. I will not cover any exotic wood with paint or opaque finishes.
I will on occasion use other materials like acrylic, plywood and MDF for my guitar bodies, but these are exceptions and would not typically be available for commissioned builds. This is something we could discuss at the onset of a build if you're really interested in a build with unique materials. Additional costs would apply for this option.
Neck – My standard is a maple neck with a maple fretboard. I will use rosewood fretboards for some builds on occasion. I build bolt on necks
HARDWARE
Pick-ups – I use EMG pickups exclusively as standard on all my builds. Other pickup options are available and extra charges will be added to the build price. I also will accept customer supplied pickups if you want to provide your own preferred pickups.
Bridges – Some of the standard bridges I work with are Floyd Rose, Babicz, Schaller and Wilkinson. I will work with others as well based on availability but that will be considered custom and it may result in additional costs. Pricing of any of the above mentioned bridges will affect the price of the build depending on the cost to me.
Machine Heads – Some of the standard tuners I work with are Schaller, Wilkinson and Grover. I will work with others as well based on availability but that will be considered custom and it may result in additional costs depending on the cost to me.
